From Trades School to BPSC

A journey of transformation, growth and public service excellence.

1962
THE BEGINNING

Trades School

Established in 1962 with a focus on artisan skills, offering long-term training in areas such as carpentry, building and motor mechanics.

1963
A NEW CHAPTER

Bechuanaland Trades School

The Trades School merged with the PWD Training Organisation to form the Bechuanaland Trades School.

1980
EXPANDING TRAINING

BIAC

Established following recommendations from the 1977 Commission on Education, with a mandate to train personnel for private and public sector employment.

2010
TODAY

Botswana Public Service College

Launched administratively as a business unit within DPSM, with a mandate to equip public officers with the competencies needed to deliver on the Government's transformation agenda.

BPSC exists to provide capacity building of public officers at all levels through:

  • Leadership and public administration competencies.
  • Support for Government reforms and innovation.
  • Research and professional advisory services.

We provide learning and development to nurture a culture of excellence through adaptive methodologies for a high-performing public service.
